NEW CANAAN, CT — This month, New Canaan will commence a state-mandated revaluation project for 2023, according to town officials.
In a news release, Town Assessor Sebastian Caldarella said revaluation company Municipal Valuations Services, LLC (Munival) of Fairfield has been hired to help the town with the project, which will take place March 20 through Oct. 31.
As part of this process, Municipal Valuation Services will have data collection personnel assigned throughout New Canaan to take photos and inspect and measure the exterior and interior of residential and commercial properties in town. Due to this, company representatives will be seen knocking on taxpayer’s doors asking questions, Caldarella said.
All Munival employees will have both a town badge and a company badge on their person, along with a signed letter of introduction, Caldarella said. They will also have magnets on their vehicles and the company logo on their attire.
Munival will additionally be mailing each resident a data verification letter containing information specific to each resident’s property, and property owners are asked to review the information listed on the form, make any corrections directly to the form and return it to Munival for review, Caldarella said.
The form may be returned either by mail, email, fax or drop off at the assessor’s office. A drop box will be out in front of the assessor’s office at Town Hall.
Anyone with additional questions is asked to call Municipal Valuation Services at 203-292-5500.
